Workshop on California Tax Incentives

Help your small business applicants Pay Less Tax!

Small Businesses want to increase their bottom line; as their lender you should come to this event and find out how your small business applicants can benefit by paying less tax while at the same time expanding their businesses!

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but everyday owners face challenges with California's complicated tax laws. SBA and Go-Biz want to make sure small business owners can be successful and provide small-to-medium-sized businesses with information about millions of dollars in tax credits, refunds and business loan assistance. The SBA Sacramento District Office is offering training for small businesses and their lenders to educate them on the Governor's Economic Development Initiative (GEDI).  This training will provide attendees with an overview of the state's GEDI program and how small businesses can qualify for tax incentives.  Attend the training and learn about business these incentives.

GEDI consists of a three-part initiative that will assist small businesses in succeeding in this tax burdensome environment.  The new tools created by GEDI for California businesses include:

•         A Manufacturing Sales and Use Tax Exemption

•         A New Employment Credit

•         The California Competes Income Tax Credit

Information on Presenters:

Barbara A. Vohryzek, Deputy Director of Small Business at GO-Biz. Vohryzek was president and founder of Vohryzek & Co. from 2009 to 2012 and is the founder and director of Community Business Bank. She was founder and executive director of the California Statewide Certified Development Corporation from 1987 to 2009 and served in various positions at the California Trade and Commerce Agency, Office of Local Development from 1984 to 1991.

Will Koch, Deputy Director of California Competes Tax Credit Program Will Koch has recently been appointed to deputy director of the California Competes Tax Credit Program at Go-Biz.  Koch was the deputy director of legislative affairs at GO-Biz from October 2012 to May 2014, and prior to that, held multiple positions at the California Franchise Tax Board from 1998 to 2012, including legislative analyst, personal income tax technical advisor, and tax collection specialist.
