Since the Supreme Court's historic ruling in United States v. Windsor last year, which struck down key portions of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), not a single state marriage ban has survived a federal court challenge. It's only a matter of time before the Supreme Court takes up one of these pending cases to decide once and for all whether states can continue discriminating against committed and loving same-sex couples who wish to marry.
