This week, EPA released the Second Integrated Urban Air Toxics Report to Congress. The report shows substantial progress has been made to reduce air toxics across the country since the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. Reducing toxics is a top priority. EPA is working closely with state, local and tribal agencies to promote area-wide and regional strategies to address air toxics, particularly in overburdened areas. "Bad air days" not only affect children, people with asthma and older adults, but can also harm anyone who is active outdoors, especially those who work outside. EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy and Voces Verdes Board Member Maria Cardona, call for the nation to fight for a safe, healthy and hopeful future for all Americans, so that everyone can breathe easier on hot days.
