| Roundtable meetings in Winfield and Wichita scheduled next Tuesday and Wednesday Small business owners, trade groups and community leaders are invited to join the U.S. Small Business Administration's National Ombudsman, Brian Castro, to learn about and discuss federal regulatory issues impacting small businesses in the area. There will be roundtable events held in Winfield and Wichita where the local business community can voice concerns about unfair regulatory enforcement, excessive fines, retaliation, burdensome regulations and other regulatory issues involving federal agencies. Winfield: On Tuesday, August 12th, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce, 123 E 9th Avenue, Winfield, KS 67156. The SBA Ombudsman will give a presentation on the Regulatory Fairness process, and facilitate an open dialogue with local small businesses about federal regulatory issues affecting them. This event is being hosted by the Winfield and Arkansas City Chambers of Commerce and Cowley First. Wichita: On Wednesday, August 13th, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kansas Leadership Center, 325 East Douglas Avenue, Wichita, KS 67202. The Ombudsman will give a presentation on the Regulatory Fairness process, and facilitate an open dialogue with local small businesses about federal regulatory issues affecting them. Representatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Labor (OSHA and Wage & Hour Division), and the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service will also be in attendance. In addition, small businesses will have an opportunity to learn more about the resources available from the SBA Office of Advocacy. Comments and concerns raised at the regulatory fairness roundtables held across the country are directed to the appropriate federal agency for a fairness review in an effort to reduce undue regulatory burdens, while helping small businesses succeed. The SBA Ombudsman also gives an annual report to Congress that rates the federal agencies based on the substantiated comments received from small businesses and input from the Regulatory Fairness Boards. The Winfield and Wichita small business roundtable events are free and open to the public, but pre-registration is recommended.
